Simon Hughes announcement

Simon Hughes MP visited King's Stairs Gardens this morning to formally announce his position on Thames Water's proposal for King's Stairs Gardens. He said "the use of King’s Stairs Gardens to be the worksite for the main tunnel of the project and the connecting point for the four combined sewer overflows is not acceptable, for both environmental and community reasons". He added that "King’s Stairs Gardens should not be the preferred site for the construction and operation of the main tunnel and connection of the CSOs."

We had an excellent turn out this morning despite the late notice. Simon Hughes also thanked all of us behind the Save King's Stairs Gardens Action Group for our work, he will attend the next public meeting on the 6th January and will work with us and our local councillors on this.  His full letter is attached.
